Combined Software Technology Offering Brings End-To-End Absentee Ballot Administration Solution to State and Local Election Offices

JANUARY 25, 2013, WASHINGTON, D.C.Democracy Live and Overseas Vote Foundation (OVF) announced a new marketing alliance to offer election officials an end-to-end electronic voter registration and absentee ballot delivery solution. The announcement was made yesterday at OVF’s Seventh Annual Summit 2013 voting and elections conference.

Since 2005, OVF has facilitated increased participation of overseas and military absentee voters by providing public access to user-friendly, Internet-based voter registration and ballot request services targeted specifically to overseas and military voters. As the nation’s largest online ballot delivery company, Democracy Live has provided secure, electronic ballots to U.S. citizens living and serving on every continent. The new collaboration will allow the two organizations to offer election officials a complete, streamlined solution that will simplify processes for election officials and meet the needs of U.S. voters both in the United States and around the globe.

With the new agreement, Democracy Live will be recognized as an exclusive reseller of OVF’s software application offering. OVF will support Democracy Live to integrate online ballot access into customized OVF Hosted Systems Voter Services websites, designed specifically for the county or state election office. OVF hosted websites are used by election offices to register voters and help them request absentee ballots.

“OVF’s strength has been developing online technology geared to bringing U.S. citizens into the absentee balloting process. Democracy Live’s LiveBallot technology will complement OVF’s front-end voter registration and ballot request services with online ballot delivery tools for election officials. Voters need alternatives to waiting in line at the polls and we look forward to working with Democracy Live to deliver complete absentee balloting solutions,” said Susan Dzieduszycka-Suinat, President and CEO of OVF.

After a voter’s registration and eligibility to access their ballot electronically are confirmed, voters will be able to access an electronic version of their ballot using Democracy Live’s LiveBallot technology. The LiveBallot technology allows voters to securely access, mark, and print their specific ballot. When the ballot is returned, election officials can automatically replicate the voter’s LiveBallot onto a scannable ballot that can be tabulated.

“By working with OVF, we will be able to provide an end-to-end solution for registering absentee voters, delivering absentee ballots, and efficiently processing returned absentee ballots,” said Democracy Live President Bryan Finney. “The LiveBallot technology allows election staff to process ballots in a fraction of the time, while maintaining a proper paper trail with the voter’s original ballot. By combining Democracy Live balloting technologies with OVF’s seamless voter registration services, we’ll help save election officials considerable time and money.”

The end-to-end electronic voter registration and balloting solution is now available.
